Some day we’ll be sitting with our dogs
Some day we’ll be surrounded by everyone who loves us
Some day we’ll be sitting with our dogs
And some day we’ll be alone
Some day we’ll be laying with our loves
Some day we’ll be sitting in the waiting room
Some day we’ll be full of all life
And some day, somehow we’ll be gone
Growing up I had a kaleidoscope that broke and only turned one way
Yet if you went far enough beyond the end you’d come around and see the same again.
Some day, you’ll fall in love
Some day all this snow and this smoke’ll be gone
Some day I’ll live in your mind
And you need never be alone
Some day, I’ll have a kaleidoscope that’ll show us beautiful things as we turn every which way
We’ll be no worse off in the beginning than at the end
We’ll be worse off in the beginning than the end
Some day we’ll be sitting with our dogs
And who’s to says that ever really ends?
Oh-oh
And some day we’ll be alone
Oh-oh
Not so bad in the end, everyone finds themselves alone in the end
But just before the end,
Some day we’ll be sitting with our dogs
Some day we’ll be surrounded by everyone who loves us
Some day we’ll be sitting with our dogs
And some day we’ll be alone
Oh-oh,
Some day,
Everyone’s alone,
In the end,
Some way,
As the room fades out, the lights are gone
The room fades out, the lights are gone,
The warm hands recede from our arms
The stars go out, the sun is gone
The stars go out, the sun is gone
I can’t see, and I can’t know, but everybody’s here.
Some day we’ll be alone.
Some day we’ll be alone.
But I don’t know what it means,
For this mind, these eyes, this heart, to go away.
Don’t be afraid;
Some day, I’ll be there too…
With only my memories of the time there was anyone but me; in the endless darkness; when there was a you.
When there was a me.
Some day we’ll be sitting with our dogs
May you receive miracle after miracle
But in the end, bring these memories with you
That way, we can go, too.

Meditations 3, Forgotten
02:56

Life really sucks sometimes, but we don’t want to leave
Like a bad lover, calling us back
For the hundreds of millions whose lives are misery
We’re the train, they are the tracks
But everyone is like that,
Everyone has pain,
Every name is loved and someday is forgotten
Everyone can say it,
Every missing day,
Every name we love, some day is forgotten.
Everyone must die sometime, but it need not be today,
Nor tomorrow, nor any time this week,
This invisible machine that’s eating at our soul
Will someday break, it’s just the present that’s bleak
But every day is like that,
Every day has pain,
Each day someone loves will pass and go somewhere that’s not here
Everyone has felt it,
Every missing day,
Every day we love, some day is forgotten.
Life has these moments, these flashes in the pan,
Something worth braving the sting of death
Little chunks of gold to our billions of souls
I think, I am, I was, and dammit, I drew breath
But everyone is like that,
Everyone has a name,
Every name is loved and someday is forgotten
Everyone can find it,
Their own perfect day,
Every one we love, we’ll all be forgotten.
Every one we love, we’ll all be forgotten.
Every one we love, we’ll all be forgotten.

Friday afternoon
Get our your guitar and raise your voice
Out here in the grass
With all these decibels, they’ve got no choice
We’re singing harmonies
To songs we barely know-oh-oh
Sunny days like these won’t last forever
Sunny days won’t last
Until then I’m up for whatever’s clever
We’ll sing loud as we can until we’re remembered
Sunny days, sunny days won’t last
Sitting with your dog
Singing to the sirens in the snow
The smell of fragrant cooking
Brightens like the sun lights up the top of the smoke
But it’s okay,
They got away.
Something impossible, a 30th birthday
But snowy sunny days won’t last forever
Snowy sunny days won’t last
Until then I’m up for whatever’s clever
Winter’s meant for us to huddle together
Sunny days, sunny days won’t last;
And at the end we’ll look back and say
Hey, even the sun will dim some day
And explode into forgotten memories
That seed the stars with hope for someone new to be
The Irish have a pithy little saying
I forget what it is but the music keeps playing anyway,
(Instrumental)
And the point is every end is a new beginning, oh-oh oh oh oh-oh,
Sunny days like these won’t last forever
Sunny days won’t last
Until then I’m up for whatever’s clever
We’ll sing loud as we can with no fucks whatsoever
Sunny days, sunny days won’t last.

No Sandwich (B-Side)
01:27
|
|
||
You’re not getting that sandwich you wanted
No I won’t make it for you
You’re not getting that sandwich you wanted
You can just starve
Or you can go to the store if you want to
They have sandwiches there
But I’d rather that you didn’t
So you’d turn into a skeleton.
Skeletons can’t
fail to wash my favorite mug for three weeks in a row, they don’t
give me money for takeout but forget the tip (I looked like an asshole)
They’re a pile of bones only good for hanging in a science teacher’s room
But I’m not teaching science, nor would I want to.
I don’t ask for much, dear, you know me,
But one more point on the whole skeleton thing
Could a skeleton forget to buy milk, when milk is all I ask for?
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
You’re not getting that sandwich
And I’m not taping your shows for tonight
In fact, I went into the DVR menus
And cancelled scheduled tapings.
