about
Dead aspects of the past, still fighting, old quarrels taking human form, turning inhuman. Dedication without morality. Drive without compassion. Blood calling for blood. Old anger hurting new lives. Lost, unable to find the perpetrators, becoming the new perpetrator. A boomerang flying wide, a pendulum swinging off its axis. In his heart, hidden away, the longing for everything just to be okay, for things to be the way they were before all of this. In his heart there is still innocence, hurting. Somewhere, tucked away, there is still the quiet breathing of love, slow and calm, in a pocket of twilight silence in the middle of turmoil, madness.
I started to play around with a jaunty swung version of this song around Halloween 2013, when thinking how amusing it would be to go as The Cranberries as a group costume. The song turned out much better than the half-hearted costume attempt.
