about
Puberty and its aftermath can be a rather difficult time. And for those poor tortured beings who are unwillingly faced with the urge to fall madly in lust with everyone, it can be, well... hard. And for those who have a lot of guilt surrounding their sexual nature, who suddenly decide that they are unable to repress themselves any longer, or who choose not to, that pendulum (representing those years of restraint) can swing to the other extreme. To be sure, that pendulum swings both ways.
The other day a friend of mine charged from a love hotel.
I was going to ask him what was up but first he started to yell –
“Are you happy, world? Now you’ve proved you have me! I’ll admit defeat!
I’ve had intercourse!” he cried, and blushing, pelted headlong down the street.
“I’ve always done everything I could,” he called to me,
“to think with my head and not with my... you know.
But I am a man and culture and my body are both against me,
but I did everything I could so now I guess I’ll just have to do everything I can.”
I chased my friend down the street, pounding on the tar.
I said, “I’m glad you’ve opened up your mind, but isn’t this going to far?
You needn’t have sex, there’s no law, if you aren’t so keen – ”
He cried, “Yes there is, just look at me, I’m a perpetual sex machine!”
“You’re letting cultural assumptions win,” I scolded him,
“That we all need boatloads of sex.
And though I bet it’s hard, I bet it can be done,
And it needn’t run your life or make you miserable, so geez man, just relax!”
Within the week it felt as if he’d slept with our whole school,
And he’d only talk of having sex which really wasn’t cool.
He’d act like we’d be having sex until the day we die,
And now I really have to say that I can’t stand that guy.
